Gum Treatment

When we brush and floss, we have one main purpose in mind: to remove plaque. Plaque is that whitish film that collects usually where the gums meet the teeth. It consists of a mixture of food, saliva, bacteria.

Bacteria produce acid that leaks into the gums and "erode" the bone that supports the teeth. This is called periodontal disease. It can present as bleeding gums, mobile teeth, and sometimes pain.

Periodontal disease can be treated by doing a "deep" scaling under local anesthetic. We use the latest techniques to treat gum disease including laser therapy. We perform a general gum assessment for all our patients undergoing a new patient exam.
